Home Learning

Aims

Home Learning is an integral part of being a student at Trinity Academy Bradford. Students will have home learning set on a regular basis that is both meaningful and appropriate to their age and ability. The completion of this helps students to make excellent progress and is crucial in supporting students in reaching their goals.

Here at Trinity Academy Bradford, we use an online platform called Educake. This is a successful home learning and revision system for secondary schools, which can be used on any PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone by going to www.educake.co.uk. Educake has been created by subject specialists and is in line with the curriculum. To access this provision, students need their email username and password and should ‘Sign in with Microsoft’ on the ‘student login’ page.

The following subjects will set weekly home learning on Educake:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Computer Science (Year 7-9 only)

On Educake, all students will receive weekly knowledge recall quizzes and, alongside this, students in Year 10 and 11 will receive regular knowledge application questions where teachers will provide feedback, as per our marking and feedback policy. Other subjects, such as RS and Modern Foreign Languages, will continue to set home learning booklets as normal, and creative subjects will continue to set project-based home learning.

Our home learning provision enables students to:

  • Develop independent study skills which will support students to achieve strong academic outcomes
  • Consolidate, reinforce and extend what students know, understand and can do in the classroom
  • Focus on knowledge recall and retention
  • Involve parents and carers in the students’ learning

Students are expected to complete all pieces of home learning to the best of their ability. Home Learning Club is available to support students after school if they wish to attend. It is a quiet space where students can complete their work.
