Personal Development – (Compulsory)

Students to give their preference as first choice. Students to give a first, second and third choice. Students will be assigned their carousel subjects in line with option subjects to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum.

If a student chooses Art as their Option A, they will not study this as part of the carousel. We want to ensure that students have a broad and varied curriculum offer.

The carousel is a part of the Trinity Academy Bradford curriculum that we are proud of. It enables all Year 9 students to study two creative subjects, in addition to their Option A that commences in Year 9 and two further options that will be selected within Year 9 to commence in Year 10. The focus of each carousel subject is to develop the skills and knowledge learned in Years 7 and 8, but also promote enjoyment and engagement.

All students will complete one term, as part of the carousel, of Personal Development in Year 9. Personal Development is a 12-week programme in which students will develop a holistic view of health and wellbeing, complete activities to support Trinity Challenge and work towards Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

Your child will study English, maths, science, RS, history, geography, MFL, personal development, IT and PE.

Students will not work towards a qualification in Core PE lessons. Core PE is part of the curriculum in all year groups. Students will have one lesson per week of PE in Years 9, 10 and 11. There is the option for students to select Sports Studies as an option, this is equivalent to a GCSE, within the Year 9 option process.

Students in Nurture will be contacted by the SEN team to provide further support to guide them through the options process.

If you have a question regarding the Pathway process, please contact us and a member of the options team will get back to you.
