Which subjects can my child choose from in Year 9?

Students will need to choose one subject for both Option B and C and rank their selections in as first, second, third choice.
Please note students are not able to study both GCSE Art and GCSE 3D Product Design.
Students are able to select to study both History and Geography. If they wish to do this, they must select their Humanities option and then select either History or Geography as one of their option choices.
What will my child be studying in Year 9 as their core subjects?
Your child will study English, maths, science, RS, history, geography, IT and PE.
Will my child work towards a qualification in PE?
Students will not work towards a qualification in Core PE lessons. Core PE is part of the curriculum in all year groups. Students will have one lesson per week of PE in Years 9, 10 and 11. There is the option for students to select Sports Studies as an Option, this is equivalent to a GCSE, within the Year 9 option process.
Does my child have to study MFL in Year 10 and 11?
MFL is one of our option choices.
Studying modern foreign languages provides students with a wealth of opportunities both academically and culturally. Students who study a modern foreign language are more likely to be higher earners in the future. As an academy, we are committed to opening doors for our students. The promotion of an academic curriculum forms part of this vision.
